Caleb Williams Week 14 Grade against the 49ers.
Couple small notes:
-I stopped grading the last 2 drives, on tape that is when San Francisco got out of their defense and were mostly playing high shell coverage .
-Most of Caleb's best throws came in that period (outside the first touchdown drive), which sucks to see, bad game for all phases this week.
-Considering rescoring "Average Throws" to .10 from .25 points. May be an off season change.
On to the summary:
Uhhh what can I say other than, we got our ass kicked in every phase of the game besides special teams. Defense got torn apart, Offense did not get anything done in the first half in back to back weeks. -After the first drive, the Bears NEXT 4 DRIVES all ended in 3rd down sacks. 7 more sacks on the season pushing Williams to a commanding 56 Sack league lead.
-2 sacks squarely on the OL (unavoidable sacks), 5 were coverage or on the QB (avoidable).
-Best throws came in the second half, in the near 3 consecutive scoring drives.
-First turnover since Washington (which was the hand off to a OLineman on the goal line.) In spite of everything (instability on the line, play caller merry-go-round, amount of sack) Caleb has done a great job protecting the ball.
-Game rates out as Average on my scale doesn't feel right, which is the root of me reconsidering the scoring of average plays. For the full season of tracking, please click here.
