It hasn't been a great start to the 2025 season for Nix, despite having one of the best pass blocking OL's in the league. While statistically he looked decent against the Colts last week, there is obviously more to playing QB than meets the stat sheet. His struggles continued into this week, however bolstered by a Chargers team that pressured hit at a 45.71% rate, over double his season average. So how did it all look?
Let's dive in!

Breakdown
We talked about the pressure he faced this week, something that stood out from that was Nix's underrated elusiveness. He navigates the pocket very well and made a few plays with his feet when needed. This game could have easily seen 5-6 sacks if it was for Nix's ability in pocket. His TTT was inflated a bit due to this, from his 2.43s season average to 2.75s.
Nix struggled deep this week, hitting on just 1 of 4 deep attempts. The 3 misses, however, weren't by much. Essentially all 3 incompletions were fingertips away from completions. And the one deep shot he did hit, a 52 yard touchdown to Courtland Sutton on a 4th down play was on the money.
Of the QB's I grade (Daniels and McCarthy not included due to injury) Nix was last in on-target throw rate, hitting just 57.1% of his pass plays on-target. This is a metric that I've started tracking just this week, so more info will be coming soon on that for previous starts are season numbers!
Some of his best plays this week came on 4th down. The aforementioned touchdown bomb to Sutton and another nice completion with pressure baring down on him on 4th down in the 4th quarter. A 22 yard crossing route strike to Sutton, a play which would ultimately set up a Broncos field goal.
His final score of -0.10/0.35/.25 comes in as a standard "Average" game (reminder a score between 2.00 and -2.00) grades as average. In what was the toughest defense Nix has played, grading-wise, it was his best game to date 3 weeks into the season. Nix will travel back home to take on a Bengals team that absolute had their brakes beat off them from the Vikings. A good bounce back/get right opportunity for Nix.
