Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers had a quick turn around from Week 1, hosting the Washington Commanders on Thursday night football. Love limited mistakes, throwing just 2 balls that were graded poor, and no turnover worthy marks this week. Dating back to last season that makes 7 of his last 8 starts without any turnover worthy plays. Besides that he was extremely efficient, and aggresive, averaging 9.4 yards per attempt and an impressive 15.0 aDOT. Let's take a look at the breakdown.

Breakdown

  • This marks back-to-back weeks where Jordan Love set the TPR benchmark for games I've graded, scoring a whooping 199.3. His ability to push the ball down field and avoid mistakes plays a huge role in that score. As mentioned before he averaged 9.4 yards per attempt and 15.0 aDOT, while completing more than 55% of his passes, getting him the full aDOT bonus.

  • Love's first deep shot of the game ended up being a perfectly placed ball over 2 deep defenders for a Jayden Reed touchdown. However, holding on the Packers OL negated the play. I spent a good amount of time pondering whether or not to grade the play, in most scenarios if a penalty effects the plays in question, I mark the play with "UG" and make note of why. In this case, I felt like Jordan Love reacted to the pressure that caused the holding in ample time to avoid a sack if holding never took place. Therefor, I graded the play as "Elite".

  • That said he did struggle going deep overall, completing just 2 of his 7 attempts, the worst of them being an underthrow to Matthew Golden on a 4th down play, which would have been a easy 7 for the Packers. His deep throw to Malik Heath was also underthrown, turning a potential long touchdown into one of the best catches we will see on the year. I still graded the play as "Good" due to hitting his man deep. But it's the small differences that can change the outcome of these plays. But he's not missing these throws by much, a little bit more or less on the throws are he hits them,

  • He did terrorize the intermediate, going 5-for-8 for 114 yards. And 2 of those incompletions were throw aways, meaning 5-for-6 using PFF's adjusted completion system (which I'm a big fan of.)

  • After a very good week one, the Green Bay OL struggled in week two, but that was to be expected going into the game being down 2 starters in Zach Tom and Aaron Banks. They allowed a 43.24% pressure rate, and Jordan Love was sacked twice. That said, with how often the Commanders got into the backfield, Love remained relatively clean. A testament to his sack avoidance ability.

  • Jordan Love and the Green Bay Packers are hot to start the season, and with a fairly easy slate of games to start the season, they are primed to be in control of the NFC North early. He scored a 1.35/1.45/2.80 charting as middle level "Good" game. He has scored a positive score in 3 of the 4 halves he has played this season, a direct inverse to last year, where he has only played 1 good half in his first 4.
