Jordan Week 16 Grade against the Saints.
-Not a whole lot to touch on this week from Love, this game was essentially over before New Orleans ever got out of the starting box. So a lot of this can be taken as a "throw away" game, but still feel it's worth to touch on some things.
-Not graded, but Love missed a wide open Christian Watson on a 4th down play that goes for a walk in TD. Just struck me as odd because watching the tape it almost seemed like Love purposefully passed on Watson to throw underneath to Kraft despite Watson being wide up. The play still resulted in 21 yards on 4th down, but was a 180 of the aggressive style of QB Love is, especially when he has someone open. Not a critique, just an observation.
-Accuracy seemed to be an issue this week, the previous few weeks we saw very little or Jordan throwing the "fade aways" that he's known for at this point, and he was very accurate, this week he reverted just a bit, despite having a near season low in pressure rate. He missed a fairly easy deep crosser due to this.
-On the flip side of the coin, when his mechanics are good, he delivers a great ball, for example his Elite throw to Jayden Reed, threw the ball over 40 air yards, and was dropped over a defender for 37 on 3rd and 12. It's throws like that that make me think he has some of the best arm talent in the league if he stays true to his mechanics.
-Shoutout to the defense for delivering a shutout, first of the season. Despite the Saints injury status, a shut out is very hard to do. Also a nod to the offensive line which delivered a pressure rate under 30% (28.57%) for the 3rd time this season. For the full season of tracking, please click here.
